COVID NY update: 4 mass vaccination sites in New York, including Jones Beach, close today

NEW YORK (WABC) – New York State is closing four mass vaccination sites on Monday, including Jones Beach on Long Island.

The Javits Center site in Manhattan is already closed.

But, the pressure to get more people vaccinated continues.

That task is proving much more difficult in more conservative parts of the country, like Missouri and Arkansas, where low vaccination rates and the more contagious Delta variant threaten to lead to a further increase.

“If we had had the hindsight of vaccines as we see in some media, I don’t think at all that it would have been possible not only to eradicate smallpox, we would probably still have smallpox, and we probably would have it. still have polio in this country, ”said Dr Anthony Fauci.

Over the weekend, more than 300 New Yorkers statewide were in hospital for COVID. It’s a pandemic trough.

Compare that to Arkansas where they have twice as many people in the hospital, with a seventh of the population.
